The 8 Dinosaurs
Triceratops
One of the most recognisable dinosaurs ever — three horns, a bony frill, and a skull that could measure 3 metres long. A powerful defender of the Late Cretaceous.
T-Rex
The tyrant lizard king — 12 metres of apex predator with a bite force stronger than almost any other land animal. One of the most powerful hunters to ever walk the Earth.
Velociraptor
Far smaller than movies suggest — turkey-sized, covered in feathers, and one of the smartest dinosaurs. Its curved claw and pack-hunting tactics made it lethal.
Stegosaurus
Famous for its diamond-shaped back plates and spiked tail (the thagomizer). Despite its huge body, its brain was remarkably tiny — one of the smallest relative to body size of any dinosaur.
Brachiosaurus
One of the tallest dinosaurs ever — its long front legs and neck let it browse treetops 13 metres high that no other animal could reach. It weighed as much as 10 elephants.
Pterodactyl
Not actually a dinosaur — Pterodactyl was a flying reptile (pterosaur) whose wings were stretched skin supported by a single elongated finger. It swooped rivers and coastlines hunting fish.
Spinosaurus
Possibly the largest carnivorous dinosaur ever — longer than T-Rex, with a crocodile-like jaw and a distinctive sail on its back. The first known dinosaur adapted for swimming.
Ankylosaurus
A living tank — bony armour covered its entire body, including its eyelids. Its tail ended in a bone club capable of breaking the legs of even a T-Rex.

Eight prehistoric giants: Triceratops, T-Rex, Velociraptor, Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Pterodactyl, Spinosaurus, and Ankylosaurus. Each has its own Learn, Quiz, and Challenge mode.
What age is Dinosaur Explorer suitable for?
The game is designed for ages 7 and up but enjoyable at any age. The Learn mode introduces real palaeontology facts in an accessible way, while the Quiz and Challenge modes add competitive pressure suited to older players.
Is Pterodactyl really a dinosaur?
No — and the game covers this exactly. Pterodactyl was a pterosaur, a flying reptile that lived alongside dinosaurs but belonged to a different branch of the reptile family tree. It’s one of the most common misconceptions in popular culture.
How does the rank system work?
You earn XP by completing quizzes and challenges. Each correct answer and completed mode adds to your total. As your XP grows you progress through seven ranks, from Fossil Finder at 0 XP up to Dino Legend at 7,000 XP.
